Varieties in non-variety set?

I was not happy a while ago when I found out that the Morgans I bought with a VAM listed on the holder won't appear in my basic set. Just today, I was prompted to add one of them. I tried to add another, but it would not work. Is PCGS in the process of allowing varieties into non-variety sets? Is this just a one-time fluke?

It is not a fluke but a system flaw.

I have run into the same thing with 1880-cc's. The varieties would not fit into the basic set.
  • you will have no problem getting it in your basic set after you email BJ. When the vams were slabbed with new numbers, they only got added to basic set when people requested it. You must be the first one to have that paticular vam number added to the basic set, if someone had added one before you, it would have gone in without a problem. I was emailing them almost everyday when they first started adding vam numbers. I had many coins I could not get in my basic set. They all got in after the emails. You must have one of the more uncommon vams to add.

I ran into the same scenario with my 1964 Type B Quarter. I could not add it to either my Washington set or the Washington Varieties Set.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I just got an email from PCGS and added the coin I wanted into the registry set I wanted. Thanks for all of your help.
