To be honest, I just took that text about Wilt from another website. Wish I could take credit for it. I do agree with it, though.

While recently reading a book on Football in the early days up into the mid 40's era it got me thinking about this thread, mentioned in the book was NFL great Sid Luckman who was a Jew, I was shocked about the abuse this guy took because he was a Jew, I always knew about the Black/ Hispanic Players not being allowed to play ball- ( That is a tragedy ) but never realized the abuse Luckman took even though he was allowed to play, another guy mentioned was Hank Greenburg, the year he hit 58hr's in 149 games-it was said there was a conspiracy against him from breaking Ruths HR record, he had 5 more games to hit 3 more but nobody would pitch to him. This might be a different kind of unkind history but I figured it would be worth mentioning.

That's suprising to me. Times were certainly different back then. But I've always heard that Jews were treatly well compared to other groups. I know a former ball player that said the only thing he was shocked about was the number of gay ballplayers. Not that I care, but this was his statement. He thought most blacks, jews, and others were basically free to do what they wanted. You would just come across a few idiots who would try to stir the pot.
