Full jersey -- to have auto'd or not?

I've always heard through the years that it's better to have a jersey autographed in terms of value. Is this always the case? Or would that just be more for modern?

I have a game used Gaylord Perry jersey from early 70's in a Giants uni, and I know he's done a lot of the show circuits, but I was always hesitant to have it signed for some reason.

Question to you guys is in 2 parts, I suppose:

1) Would you get it signed or not, and why?

2) For this jersey, what, if any, value do you think it would add?

It's been bugging me for a while, so why not ask you guys here, eh? Thanks in advance!!

I don't know how much it would bump the value/price,
but I would rather have it signed.

    Thanks Storm for the response.

Is that just your personal preference? Maybe I'm just too worried that he might mess up image

Also, there's just a part of me that would look at it (I'll eventually get a frame for it and hang it) and wonder why I had someone scribble all over the front of it heh

Yes; just my preference. BUT, I have been to several pro-athletes' houses
and they all had signed/framed shirts on the walls. The college players I
have been friendly with also have signed jerseys.

A Ty Cobb shirt w/o a sig is great. Even an unsigned Mantle would be swell.
But, the more modern stuff seems most appropriate when it's signed.

The guys have all signed hundreds of them. The chances of them making
a bad looking or messed-up sig are pretty slim.
