Not for its size, which is impressive, but for one of my favorite artists, Albert Herbemont. I enjoy the subtlety of his lines.
I am guessing that this medal, interestingly enough, may have been presented to a prominent French physician, Gabriel Despierres, in 1936 (the photo is too dark at the bottom to show this information). I gather by the date on the obverse that Herbemont designed the medal in 1930.
