Anyone going to the Overland Park, KS show this weekend?

I am going to go for at least one of the days but haven't made up my mind about which one yet. Hopefully it will be a good show. image

I was thinking about going, but I'm not sure. If I do I was thinking of starting a team autographed ball for the Royals. I got a ball signed by Gordon at a Tristar show a few years ago. Starting a team ball sounds like a bad idea, and I probably shouldn't, but who knows.

Here's the link for the show.

I don't think that sounds like a bad idea at all. If you enjoy it then do it. Someone on here had a quote that was something like, "Collect what you like and like what you collect." If that's what you like then it's not a bad idea. Unless you are going for resale value. image

It would be for my collection if I did something like that. I figured I could hang on to it, and if I eventually heard of other shows where someone was signing (DeJesus, Greinke, Bannister, et al) I could have them sign the ball too. Of course, the Royals are in a bit of a slump after the hot start. Hopefully they get it turned around.

That is a good quote, but I feel kind of weird getting autographs from guys that are younger than me (Gordon and Butler) or close to my age, but slightly older (Meche and Teahen). I don't know what to say that they haven't heard a million times that day ("Good luck this year"),. I had Ryne Sandberg sign a ball for me a few years ago, and since he was my favorite player, I congratulated him on getting into the Hall of Fame, and he said "Thanks" (he's never been much of a talker). Anyway, I try not to collect with resale value in mind.

I'm the same way. I don't really care what my collection is worth. Some of my favorite cards are "commons". Plus I can't afford many high dollar items. I think the Royals ball sounds like a great idea.
