Search Terms only show us what the shopper enters.

If we used all of the top keywords, our listing would return
in results, BUT under "Best Match" (new default) we might
    be on page 25.

The goal now is to make it to page one.

A few good words from today:

    LOT

    NEW

    FANCY

    CLASSIC

    FREE

    ................

Offering Free S+H appears to now be trumping high DSRs,
    in search-return sequence.

My favorite is the phrase, "not __________________". I've stumbled on quite a few Tom Brady auctions while searching for Manning stuff due to a "Tom Brady Contenders RC Auto Not Manning"

The addy will give you good info for making titles.

Also, the search-board at EBAY forums can help crack the daily code.

It's tragic to see auto and autographs so popular when I wouldn't trust any previously signed items.
  • so what if you threw in all those buzzwords in your auctions? would it generate more hits? image

I had an auction pulled yesterday for keyword spamming......"Like New" was the term they said violated ebay rules.

So I called them back and said "Like really. you like pulled by auction like because I like used the term like new?"

    They hung up on me.

Obviously they have never been to the Valley

The word "like" is on the permanent hit list at EBAY.

That has been the case for years.

The sub-brands and counterfeiters used to use it as in:

    "Like Coach"

    "Like Tiffany"

The word "nearly" often survives, unless a competitor reports it.

eg: "Bag Is Nearly New." But, the official policy is that the word
"new" can only be used if it describes an item that is NEW. That
is to avoid tricking folks who look for "new" stuff into looking at
    USED stuff.

NWT and NIP are used to properly describe items that are "new
with tag" or "new in package."

There has been a minor controversy in graded-currency. Fairly
recently the TPGs have started designating some notes as
"NEW," to describe the notes' condition. EBAY's T&S nitwits
are having a heck of a time grasping how a 100-year old item
    can be called "NEW."

    OHGAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew you could buy a car on eBay, but car insurance? How does that work?

Soon, ONLY BIG corporations will be listing on the "regular" EBAY site.

Sears/Wal-Mart/Kmart/JCP/Macy/etc. will be the primary sellers. The
high-fashion stores will displace ALL of the current fashion resellers.

A new hybrid site for collectibles is already being planned. That will
be EBAY's "flea market" venue. The main site will be for the BIG boys
selling NEW merch ONLY. Amazon is the model that EBAY wants.
