Is this Randy Johnson signature real??

Is this Randy Johnson signature real? If so, I'll buy it tonight for my signed rookie collection. I don't know the modern guys very well. Thanks for your help

  • Personally, I would hold off. Looks too fishy to me, even for an ip auto.

I hear ya StantheMan, I've been quickly looking at other sigs of his and this one doesn't look right. Thanks,

  • For even more follow up, if you notice on that 89' Topps, it slants alot to the right, but all authentic Johnson autos I have seen slant more to the left. Plus, it's not even close on some of the letter formations.

Your autograph is the old school legit sig of Randy Johnson, the one Mike posted a scan of is suppose to be the more current Johson sig, but of course it is fake. When Randy changed his sig, it now stands more upright and to the left, not the sharp right hand slant. If the forger had any clue, they might could have make it look closer to the legit thing. But.... it's still a poorly done forgery.

    EDIT: Spelling

Yep. I got that one his last spring training with the Expos. I do see his auto has changed a lot since then. He was tough back then, for sure.

    DerekD,

You want to sell it? If you've seen my thread on HOF signed rookies, you'll know it's going to a good home.

I'll second this, and Mike is a good guy. Could not go to a better place if you decide to sell, Derek. image

    Mike,

    PM sent.

  • I wouldn't touch it. Randy does have 2 versions of his auto. His paid signature is really nice and the one he gives for free is pure crap.

you want a see a crap autograph of him. It's the inspection form he had to fill out at our dealership when I was in AZ for his Hummer that he had to sign saying where all the dents were before we bring it in so afterwards he can't say we did it.

edit - found it, it's not quite as bad as I remember but still pretty crappy

he was always very unfriendly there but he did always bring his own vehicle in for service. Most of the others sent someone else to do it. He'd walk around the shop, speak to no one. The one time I said hi to him, he kinda grunted a hi back to me.
