A first for me...UPDATED!

So a buyer (with zero feedback) sends me an email telling me that he cannot afford the total amount with shipping of $4.44 for an auction he won:

"Can u do me a favor plz i have this credit card that only has $4.25 and i thoguht that would be enough so can u plz lower it to that if not i can not buy srry."

I had to read it five times to understand what he meant. After that I lowered the total to $4.00 and blocked him as a bidder. I hate confrontations over so little.

Looking for Charlie (Charley) Maxwell cards.

For Christ's sake he could just mail you a five spot and be over it. Sounds like he should cut up the credit card(s)!!

Maxing out credit cards is a bad thing.

Jamie, I think you handled the situation admirably. I would likely have done the same thing. Not that I have pity for the buyer (I'm not falling for the sob story) it's just not worth the hassle to fight it with negs, npd, and the like.

He probably is a little younger than most of us (especially with his quote and all the text type wording), and has a fixed amount gift card type CC from a relative for a B'day etc. It is probably only good for $50 or so originally and he has just a little left on it. You are probably helping him out quite a bit by lowering the price, it probably means a lot more to him than you. I don't think that anyone would be trying to save 19 cents otherwise.

+1 for Jamie (uphill) for being a good guy

I wonder if the guy had a Visa gift card and was just trying to use up the balance. I'm not taking his side, just trying to figure out what the big deal is with the extra $.19.

I was going to say the same thing. They are also starting to issue some rebates using the Visa prepaid credit cards, as well. I've been stuck will small balances on those. It's tough to get rid of them.

Either way, he should have asked before he bid.

Now I get this after sending him a reminder:

"i do not have the money on pay pal i do not have dredit card srry plz stop sending me stuff thz"

I was going to point out that he was the high bidder of 14 different auctions after the one he won from me and that he had received six positive feedbacks stating incredibly fast payments. But hey, it's only $4.00. I will be getting my FVF back.

WOW, the guy gets messed with over a $4.00 deal, he takes the high road to solve the problem, you take a jab at him? Not here to make friends are you?

Sorry you got a loser buyer Uphill, good effort at trying to make the best of it.

    That reminds me.

When I was in basic training at Fort Dix NJ in 1966 - we went on pass to NYC and stayed at the Martha Washington Hotel in Manhattan.

One of the guys with us - his name was John, borrowed 20 bucks from me to contract with a hooker who came to his room at the hotel.

    He never paid me back!
