Searching For Heritage Mantle Using Best Match Default

Best Match is destroying MANY EBAY businesses.

Search Term: Heritage Mantle

Results: http://search.ebay.com/heritage-mantle_W0QQfromZR40QQfrtsZ0

If you insert "mickey" in the string, you will get a bunch of Disney merch.

What's worse is that auction listings do not appear as to "ending soonest"
status. ALL of those last-minute (non-snipe-service) bids you used to get are
gone forever.

This is a TOTAL disaster. It shows that EBAY is moving away from auctions and
only wants HUGE sellers using fixed-price on the site. They think Amazon is the
competition.

Few buyers know how to switch their search results out of Best Match. They
are confused and leaving the site.

Using CORE listings to drive buyers into stores is now destined to fail; that
concept was the ONLY thing that made stores profitable.

BRIGHT SPOT: Buyers better get on the site and start buying all of the hidden
auctions. MANY should be going for cents-on-the-dollar during the next few weeks.

  • Ebay should learn to follow one simple rule of thumb - If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Best Match was a horrible idea. I still switch it to Highest First or Newly Listed, always have and always will.

The buyers here are in the top 1% of sophisticated EBAY-users.

The peasants that sellers MUST have to succeed, have no idea
how to manipulate anything on the site. They just go to page
one or two and start bidding/buying.

Best Match usually starts with listings ending in DAYS, while the
listings ending in minutes are on page six. NOBODY is ever even
likely to see those "almost over" listings.

Using featured-listings may be the only way to make this thing
work again. I am not giving up, but there is a limit to the amount
of money I am willing to gamble. (If enough people quit, I hope
those who stay will have a better chance.)

ReCap: "Best Match" means YOUR listings will likely NEVER get
to the top of page one; they may not even get to page two or
    three before they expire.

    Terrible.
