Interesting estate sale pick up today

Found this for 2.00 at a local estate sale this morning. It is a ticket book with 11 unused tickets from the 1973 Shreveport Captains.

Go to the stadium and try to use them, then film the reactions you get. image
  • Stadium no longer exists nor does the team.

Don't lose or destroy it, because it will not be replaced or any allowances made therefor.

    Very cool pickup.

I just did some searching on the club and it seems they have no major league affiliation at this time.

An inside look at Spar Stadium.

edit: found a cool site that talks about the stadium.

    expensive tickets for 1973

what were major league tickets around that time?

  • In the 80s through about 2003 the Shreveport Captains were the AA farm club of the Giants and a staple in the Texas League. I believe it was 2004 when they were moved to Frisco Texas to become the Frisco RoughRiders. They were replaced by an amateur team named the Swamp Dragons, but I drove by the new Stadium that was built in the 80s to replace SPAR stadium the other day and it was dead silent.

I attended 5 or so Captains games including the 1990 exhibition game with the Giants.

I found this site that talks about Spar Stadium and the teams that played there over the years.

Here's the web which also has a bunch of pics of the stadium which I think has been renamed today.
