Jared Allen likely to be (edit: has been) traded

I quit. I can't root for this team as long as Carl Peterson is running it into the ground. You'll pay Ty Law, Kendrell Bell, Napoleon Harris, ets. etc. etc. stupid money to suck or get old, but the best young defensive end in the game isn't worth paying to keep around for his prime years. It maybe makes sense if you're getting a 1st & 2nd round pick, but given Carl's great record of drafting over the past 20 years, I wouldn't hold my breath. Although he did draft Tony Gonzalez, so that's like a free pass for life, right?

Why won't Clark Hunt just man up and take his GM job away? Let him still play VP, just not GM. I know Carl spent most of the 90's running very good teams. But what has he done in the past 10 years? Is there any other team in the league, or any other sprot for that matter, that would keep a GM after 10 years of mediocre at best seasons?

Jared Allen could be one heck of a leadership presence for the young players the Chiefs will have over the next few years. He's a great player, a clubhouse leader, a fan favorite, and from what I've heard he wants to be here. But Carl's really smart and has a really good track record, so I'll just trust him to do what's best.

Carl Peterson has to be the worst GM in the league by miles. Your absolutely dead-on with your assessment, if they get rid of Allen, that defense is gonna be much worse than it has in the past couple of years, and as we know, that isn't good.

I'm a lifelong Alabama fan, but the decision to draft Brodie Croyle, whom I like personally but knew he was nothing more than a 2nd/3rd string NFL quarterback at best, was really another dumb move. How long does it take to understand that he is not going to cut it, was a bad move, and it's time to completely redo the QB and several OL positions on that team. And paying big bucks for aging defensive help isn't going to solve the problems either as you mentioned.

While I hate to see the best player on the team (who now, Dustin Colquitt???) go, I'm glad the Chiefs didn't give up $74 million to keep him. Although I would have rather spent that money than throw the money we gave LJ last year down the toilet.

Getting a 1st and two 3rds is a win in this scenario for the Chiefs, providing they know what to do with them.

This draft will define the next 10 years for the Chiefs. 13 picks, and only 4-5 guys on the roster that have their spot secured. Every single pick they make should be for the best player available, because they have a need at every single position. If they don't pick up at least 7-8 good starters from this draft I think it will forever define Carl Peterson and Herm Edwards' careers. If this draft class flops, like most of Carl's have, he will probably go down as one of the worst GM's ever (if he doesn't all ready).

I think this team has a real shot at 0-16, despite getting to play Oakland x2, Denver x2, Atlanta, the Jets, and Miami.

    Story

Oh, and the Royals got throttled for the 4th time in a row last night, too.
