Top $$ Paid for 1980 Topps baseball commons!!

I need three more commons for my 1980 set: 68 Harlow, 336 Medich and 451 Indians Team. I will pay $40 each for a PSA 9 without qualifiers and $80 each for a PSA 10! Since I know nobody has any for sale, I will buy PSA worthy UNGRADED cards IF THEY ARE IN PERFECT SHAPE--4 sharp corners, no creases or surface scratches, no wax or gum stains, 55/45 centering, no ink stains or print defects and must have a "blue" border all around on the reverse--no miscuts! Card/s must look sharp and mint and will pay $5 each IF AS STATED! Serious "graders" only, please, as I already have all three in PSA 8s so I'm not looking for filler cards. Would be nice if you could provide a scan as well. With all of the vending box purchases on ebay over the past few months someone might be able to help a brother out but I'm done spending the $100 a box trying to get lucky or wasting time with the idiots at card shops or on various web sites that claim "mint" and when you get them they're beat! I'm figuring if you are on this board you are familiar with PSA cards so if you can help I would appreciate it. At the same time, if you aren't sure or not experienced with PSA cards please don't waste our--yours and mine--time. Thanks!

I would have forgotten my password for sure!!image
  • NO emergency, but after dealing with other idiots over the years who don't know what "mint" means I figured I'd try this board where some of you guys at least know what PSA IS!! After reading your smart ass reply maybe I was wrong! I'm not counting on any help but I know the cards are out there I'm just not finding them. If I get them fine, if not oh well. I know what I WILL DO, though, I'll be too busy looking for the cards I need than to respond to every loser with no life that makes a stupid wise-crack. Back to the search............

    Nice post.

Please don't wait another five years before posting again, we obviously have so much we can learn from you.

but after dealing with other idiots

Are you saying you are an idiot?

Since you have no time to waste on wise a$$ people (me) I will not be expecting a reply.

    Good luck in your search.

    Steve

    Good for you.
  • THis is why I don't do boards..I never said YOU are idiot or myself--I was referring to my new admirer Nicky who has decided to be a comedian in response to my post. I made a simple post asking for help in my quest for 3 cards and am willing to pay more than 10X common value which is more than fair. If you can help fine,if not, fine but please don't post because I am only looking for three cards and not to make new friends or enemies. Why am I an idiot when nobody can read my post and give a simple answerwhether they can help or not?

  • Which post was that? The original one or my reply to Nick?? MY original post is cut and dry and if people don't understand that I'm looking for three simple cards then they need not respond. These last few replies are why I don't deal with these boards. I thought maybe some of you guys might be serious on here but I can see I was wrong.

Sorry but I have little tolerance for people that only post when they want something, and contribute nothing. Make sure to get back to us again when you need something.

Steve you forgot the part where after he barked out all those specific orders, he said he wants a scan too, just to make sure we can follow directions. image

You are actually collecting the 1980 set and paying those prices for commons. Do you save or collect anything else I might have like socks, boxers, golf balls etc?

Punchy, I have all three in PSA 10, but alas, they are not for sale. Good luck in your quest for manners and tolerance.
  • All are going in for the special. Hope to have a good showing for my 1980 subs. those three are hard to find not oc/mc.

I do have a great looking indians team card, but it is marked. what was I thinking as a 9 year old marking those checklists?!?

  • This is one of the funniest threads I have ever read! Nick's response was priceless!

I have the cards in PSA 9....but not for sale.

I don't know if anyone cares or not but I went snooping through the 1980 registry and discovered that he wasn't even collecting the set, but rather trying to cut a deal with someone who was! #2 on the Registry makes a nice comment to Muffin guy about trading him the last card he needed! Check the link...

    Evil Muffin!

On a side note, the set is actually quite nice with scans of all the cards.

I could relate to what muffin was going through. I need some low pop. PSA 9s for my '77 FB set. Some cards highest grade is a PSA 8 in the set.
I saw K's post and thought he was doing it just for money, but he does have the 3rd ranked set.

Honestly, who really cares. The guy is pretty arrogant and could definitely conduct himself in a much better way.

Winpitcher was commenting on my post before I edited it.
I posted that it appeared Muffin was just in it for the money, finding cards for the #2 ranked set owner.
I was wrong, he owns the 3rd ranked, so I edited that part out of my post.

I didn't even realize it. I read the blurb left on the #1 and #2 sets only. When I saw mention of him on the #2 set I just copied the address and threw it up here for everyone. I personally hate when people come out with an unprecedented urgency for something and you cut them a deal just so they can turn a profit for themself. Not to mention his attitude was garbage.

What does it matter what number set he has?

    I hear ya bug.

    Good for you.
  • Forgive the man for being a collector. For money or for fun, he has some passion for the hobby. If I hads I would gives but lo I don't haves. You know, I think I will post more often now just in case I ever need a bail out on some low pop cards so no one is ticked at me. Wow if only he could forward his first thread to every eBayer about the mint definition thing then it would do us all a huge favor and we wouldn't get ripped off so much by the "minters" haha
