<< <i>Either stop buying graded cards and submitting or live with the fact that there will be inconsistencies along the line. This is all about the opinion of a grader who has past experiences to help him form his current and future opinions on cards. >>
There is no room for rationality on this thread, Justin.
Here's a thought; graded cards aren't going anywhere, people will buy them, they will pay however much they want to pay for them regardless of what any price guide says, and the people who grade cards are human (leaving obvious room for error). Get in where you fit in!!!!

<< <i>Just as a pure goof , I went to the gym today and threw 500 lbs on the bar , it's bad enough I damn near got laughed right out of the place with everyone lookin at me , But I couldn't even get it off the rack !
I must be one weak bastidge @ 175 lbs
All discouraged I asked around if any of the huge guys could lift it , I didn't have any takers for a while , I guess they also did not want to be embarrased by trying until this one huge guy about 270 lbs finally did it , cost me 50 bucks and my pride to find that out .
I should have video taped it though because this guy did not just snatch it off the bar and squat it like you did , it was even heavy for him . . . I asked would I be able to lift this weight at my weight , he told me my legs would have to be as big if not bigger than my waist .
Don't ever make me do anything like this again please ! >>
Here I am at 22 years old. I weigh 161 lbs. in this picture. That's not quite 500 lbs. on the bar. It's a mere 465 but trust me, I followed this lift with 505. I took 1st place in my weight class and won best lifter (an award for the best pound for pound lifter in the contest) I guess your gym is full of pansies.
>>
First, we have the GAI fiasco and your being in total denial as to the issues the Ruth card has. Then, came how tough you were with "throwing around 500 lbs of weights". And finally, the grading conspiracies.....
If there was any doubt before, it has all been perfectly cleared up now. Glad you could finally confirm that this moronic stuff is not just an act, it's a lifestyle.
<< <i>So if I subscribe to your beliefs, then whoever that guy in the photo is a moron. He should be happy lifting only 200 pounds, why does he have to try to lift more than anyone else? No, it's about status and ego (mostly ego), and that's why someone wants a 10 instead of an 8.5 >>

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
I came to work for a nice Friday morning and am greeted by this moron posting more garbage!? Time for you to quit and move on. Go juice yourself up, go down to the gym and tell you muscle head friends about all those idiots on the PSA boards who spend $2,000 for an '83 Gwynn.
<< <i>Roid Rage. Lighten up man. You can have your own opinion but resorting to name calling because people dont agree with you? How ignorant are you?
People were fine with you and were even trying to help you out. I think you just lost that respect. Go take a time out or something. >>
Hey, I've been taking crap all night from people who are talking about how ignorant I am about cards and grading. I'm smart enough to realize that all you get is a quick opinion when you submit your cards for grading. I'm also smart enough to realize that the 30 second opinion isn't worth paying 100X the cards true value. >>
A couple hints that might make all of this easier to process--
A cards 'true value' is determined by what it sells for. You-- or I, as far as that goes- might think chasing PSA 10's is a little ridiculous, but then I also think it's silly to pay four figures for a card just because the man who is pictured on it signed his name on it. Note, however, that I'm not here railing on people for collecting autographed cards, or (while I'm on the subject) cards that have a swatch of another man's shirt embedded in the card.
That brings up another interesting question: What does a man do with a game used 'Babe Ruth Pants Card' he just dropped $1500 on once it gets in the mail? Does he sit in a dark room and reverently stroke the fabric? I can hear it now: "Honey, I can feel the Babe-- I can FEEL THE BABE!!! He's right here with me!!"
Anyway, there are two larger points here that need to be made. First, the whole notion of spending enough money on a baseball card to feed a moderately sized Ugandan village for three years-- any baseball card, I don't care how old it is-- is by itself utterly irrational. And the fact that this hobby is based-- nay, sustained-- by this kind of irrationality gives rise to other peculiarities which are, for the most part, better left unexamined. Why is a rookie card worth more than a second year card? Why is a card that's produced by Topps worth more than a 'fantasy' card produced by an unlicensed manufacturer? Why do card picturing Willie Mays-- a man who is, by all accounts, one of the most insufferable men on the planet-- sell for more than those picturing Ron Santo, a man who is the absolute picture of integrity and perseverance? We could ask these questions all day and night, but guess what? We don't. And do you know why we don't? Because the rest of us 'get it'. And you, for whatever reason, apparently do not. >>
<< <i>What are you curling these days besides your hair? >>
Haha!!! Seriously though, to the OP: You come on here complaining that you're getting based a ton for your opinions on graded cards......and then you brag about how much you can lift?????? Dude, I won't judge how much of a "clue" you may or may not have, but where exactly do you think the juvenile bragging will get you?

<< <i>This picture is only proof that you got the weights of the rack, nothing more. >>
Exactly.
Did you do that squat the RIGHT way? Like go down so your knees were even with your butt? and if Im not mistaken 4-45 lb plates on each side plus the bar (45 lbs) = 405. >>
There's a 25 pounder on there as well you retards. Look a little closer. Plus the collars are 5 pounds. Two 25 pound plates plus 2 5 lb. collars equals 60 lbs. Add that to 405 and it equals 465 lbs. All 3 judges approved the lift so I obviously made it to the proper depth. It only takes 2 out of 3 officials to approve the lift for it to be valid. I got all 3.
For people who say they don't care what I lifted or aren't impressed, you guys sure are asking a lot of questions about it. Perhaps your envy is showing.
