Human Arms Were Not Designed To Bend This Way

Guys,

I don't think human arms were designed to bend this way. Yikes! BTW, that's Hideki Okajima and Javier Lopez.

  • Did anyone watch the "Real Sports" where they caught up with Mike Marshall who is now teaching a new pitching motion? It's very odd, and almost pendulum like but the pitchers can throw hundreds of pitches without soreness in a single day.
  • Okajima is a freak. I don't know how he hits the strike zone. He's looking straight down at the ground when the ball is released.

He's the modern day Fernando Valenzuela.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I saw that. Very interesting motion. Even more interesting the guy has basically been blackballed for teaching it.

I thought Javy Lopez was a catcher for the Braves in the 90s?

Mike Remlinger has a weird, pendulum/cantilever delivery.

Marshall's stuff seems logical - you'd think more guys who can't make it otherwise would try Marshall's methods.

the only thing i see different is no big wind up or leg kick....its like he has the pitcher square up to the plate more, perhaps taking less stress on the joints

If he dropped it to a 3/4 motion,. it would remind me of The Big Train.

I've always been surprised by baseball's total reluctance to even acknowledge Marshall's theories. You would think that with the kind of money they invest in pitchers that they'd at least want to look into this for themselves as a way of perhaps protecting their investment.
