1985 New England Patroits Signed Photo

In 1985, coach Raymond Berry (player HOF'er) led the New England Patriots to an appearance in the (1986) Super Bowl against Mike Ditka and the Chicago Bears. You likely remember, the Super Bowl Shuffle and Refrigerator Perry.

Anyway, I picked up this 1985 signed New England Patriots recently. It was wrapped in a plastic wrap the last several years and has the side crunched a little, but it should flatten out fine. The seller also paid for a PSA DNA quick review that came through "likely genuine." I got it yesterday and have been researching the autos. It looks good, signatures all have traits that are consistent with the exception of one player, which is not that strange as this was signed 20 years ago.

So anyway, first thing I found interesting, is the number of first and second round draft picks that were key to this Super Bowl appearing team (or AFC championship team if that sounds better). Almost every key pick from the last 6 years, every 1st round pick 1980-1985 was a starter on the team. It was completely built by drafting correctly.

Robert Weathers (RB) (1982 2nd round draft pick)
Ronnie Lippett (DB)
Lester Williams (NT-DE) (1982 New England 1st round draft pick - 27th pick)
Craig James (FB)
Kenneth Sims (Defensive Lineman) (1982 New England 1st round draft pick - 1st pick overall)
Earnest Gibson (DB)
Tony Collins with a terrible 33 (1981 New England 2nd round draft pick)
Roland James (DB) (1980 New England 1st round draft pick)
Trevor Matich (C-T-G) (1985 New England 1st round draft pick)
Greg Hawthorne (RB-TE-WR) (1979 New England 1st round draft pick)
Tony Eason (QB) (1983 New England 1st round draft pick) (signature is in corner)
Brian Holloway (T-G) (1981 New England 1st round draft pick) (Looks like B Holloway, on center edge near Ernest Gibson)
Pete Brock (C-T-G) (1976 New England 1st round draft pick)
Larry McGrew (1957-2004) (1980 2nd round draft pick)
Andre Tippett (1982 2nd round draft pick) (HOF)
Ben Thomas (1985 New England 2nd round draft pick)

There are a few signatures I can not identify so that is where you guys (and gal/gals) come in.

The first few photos were not mine. I will retake a couple of them sometime but they serve me purpose here....

????? Note: Another Signature is coming up through the middle. This signature is what looks like a "J." (space when the other sig. comes across) and "Something I don't know."

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Thanks for everyone's help and your comments Stown.

The one left might be Jon Norris or Julius Adams (less likely).
