Have any packs or boxes from the 70's/80's gone down in value lately?

Checking BBC Exchange and others, it seems like prices have remained pretty solid across the board for packs and boxes (for the 70's and 80's).

In basketball, the 80/81 has drifted down in value a little. I think it use to be $1,400-1,500, now $1,250. I think I've seen boxes at auction go lower, I havent kept up with them.

In hockey, it seems like things are solid.

In baseball, seems solid vs a few years ago. I don't know...noticed anything up or down? Trends?

Prices will probably be pretty stable for wax...

As pop reports increase everyday.. The amount of wax decreases everyday.

Then again I remember people talking about how wax was drying up 10yrs ago and you still see TONS of late 70s and early 80s wax available.
  • I've been logging the ebay sales prices of gai slabbed 1970's baseball wax, cello's and raks for the last 5 years. The prices of most of these items has remained relatively stable with a few exceptions. Most notable increases are 1975 & 1976 rak paks. Most notable decreases are 1970 wax paks and 1979 wax trays.
And I agree with fellow member Rogermnj; without question unopened '78 & '79 baseball continues to flood ebay daily with no signs of "drying up". There appears to be a continuous "river" of supply from these two years. Only until you go back to 1977 do you see evidence of material starting to dry up a bit. Wax paks from only one year in the '70's is truely scarce and that is of course 1971--year of the "black beauties".....
......NOTE TO MYSELF: anyone who has been logging the ebay sales prices of '70's unopened baseball paks for the last 5 years needs to get a life!!!!!
