A rare GOOD experience on Ebay....

Bought a raw 1958 Mantle on Ebay from a seller named "Goochmaster" and when the package arrives, not only is the 1958 Mantle encased in a beautiful inch thick lucite screw-down holder (which the seller did not charge me for), but also in the package is a EX condition 1975 Topps Robin Yount RC!

Perphaps that was a mistake by the seller??? That is a pretty expensive card as a throw in.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

A long time ago, when EBAY was fun and you could make ALOT of money
on the site, many sellers gave nice bonuses.

Now, it is all guerilla warfare inside of a wild-west saloon. Few folks think
    about giving freebies.

I emailed him about it and he said it was a thank you intended to encourage repeat business.

I would grade the card EX (i.e. PSA 5), so its probably only worth $20-30.

Any way you look at it, it's a very nice gesture. Since I've got more than a few low-grade cards lying around, I may start including them as bonuses as well when I sell stuff on EBay.

  • Great news!! Nice to read something positive once in a while.

I almost always include a little extra when I sell something. I'll look through my cards and include another of the same player if I can, even if it is only a few base cards. Many times I have received some nice thank you mail, and at other times, not even an acknowledgement. Good Customer service goes a long way.

I have hundreds of good transactions on ebay - just seems like we only like to complain.

    Thanks for the news!

John your right. I guess its just human nature. Its like going out to dinner. We never really remember all the good meals we ate but will never forget the bad service or lousy food we all have experienced from time to time.

Not to mention, should you really label a transaction as "good" just because you recieved something for free? I'd like to think that all of my transactions were thought of as "good" by the buyer, even though I didn't send any bonuses. It's cool that you got that, but let's not use that experience to set the bar for a "good" transaction. It's already hard enough for sellers. image
