Why flip cards and lose?

I just signed up for VCP website and I love it. I was going thru my 63 set and figuring out how much roughly I need to spend to finish it. While purusing thru the website,I clicked on the Rose rookie in an 7 trying to figure how much I roughly am going to spend on it. I look back at the previous auctions and notice that "Thecardshap" bought two Roses in seperate auctions and flipped them losing money both times. The total loss was well over $200. It was not like they got a steal on either one of them when they bought. Why continue to flip cards and lose?

cards for a buck. Not just 1 or 2 here or there but consistently.
In the cardshaps case maybe he makes up with it in volume?
one good winner and all is well.

This could be explained by the purchase of a large lot of graded cards. Let's say you buy a lot of 100 graded cards for $500. You sell most of the cards 75 of the cards for $10 each, and the rest you sell for $1. You still make a good profit even with selling the 25 cards for a total of $25.
