Russian coin hoard found - article

I caught this link on one of the other coin forums. If it was true, the value could easily be multiples of the stated value. Lord M, maybe Lipetsk is calling you to find the motherlode.

    Very cool find.

Russia (especially old, abandoned villages up North) is an amazing place if you're a skilled MD'er.

The coins were discovered in a metal chest, which the teacher accidently found when her foot went through a floor board.

Sounds like a movie scene. She slipped and found the treasure that the bolshevics couldn't. image

8,000 coins and medals dating from the early 1700s to 1914, in "well preserved" condition, and their value is only $20,000?

Sounds like a wholesaler got in there quickly to make the appraisal!

$2.50 each does seem a little conservative, even for a cheapskate wholesaler.image

I'll pay $5 each for the medals and any AU/Unc silver pieces!
