RIP-Tommy Holmes

This is so wierd. Minutes after opening a mailer that held a 1949 Bowman Tommy Holmes, I read on ESPN that he died today. The Braves Franchise HOFer was 91.

    Tommy held the longest NL hit streak until Rose passed him on his way to 44 in '78.

    He was hale and hearty well into his 80's. I remember seeing him a few years ago when Marcus Giles passed his team record for doubles and he looked great.

    The same thing happened to me, only it was about a week. I buy a George Mikan 2003 Legends autograph back in 2005 for $49, and I actualy remember complaining about the price I won it for, then a week later I heard that he had passed away, its crazy.
