Should I return MS62 Saint?
I recently picked up a PCGS 1928 Saint Gaudens in MS62 from APMEX to fill the with motto spot in my 20th century type gold set. Well the coin arrived yesterday after waiting for about 2.5-3 weeks. Upon initial inspection my wife noticed that the reverse has a milk spot about 2x2mm on the reverse; right on the eagles neck and left wing. When I say milk spot, it actually looks like somebody dripped milk onto the coin and let it dry. It is a beautiful coin otherwise. Should I return it to APMEX. I already have the RA#, I just hate paying to send it back and rolling the dice that the next coin will be any better.

I do not believe this is a rare date and a higher grade will probably "look even better"??

<< <i>Right off the bat, you don't like the coin today, you will hate it 'tomorrow'. By the very nature of asking if you should return it, you should return it. >>
I agree. Everytime you look at the coin, all you will see is the spot. Common date MS-62 Saints are very common. If you are buying one for your type set, it's best to buy it at a major show, so you can look at a lot and pick one that you like best.

Do yourself a favor. RETURN IT. AMPEX is a supposed to be a good company, I'm sure they'll make it right with you.
The postage is small potatos compared to looking at a moderately expensive coin with which you find fault.
<< <i>Most 62 Saints are unattractive coins. Save your money and buy a 63 or, better yet, a 64 which isn't that much more money over what a 62 costs. >>
Agreed. A NICE 64 is a much better value.

<< <i>64's have been losing ground to the 63's and 65's since the start of the year (16% down against the MS65's). >>
Which makes 64's an even better value.
