Anyone rip any 1991 Stadium Club lately? Are the cards stuck together?

I'm thinking about picking up a few boxes, but with the ultra glossy stock, I'm worried about the cards having glued themselves together over the years.

Long ago, I ordered the "1993 Tombstone Pizza All-Star" set through the mail, and left it un-opened. These cards all had the glossy coating on the fronts and backs. A few years back, I discovered that the set had become a solid brick within the unopened bag. image

That'd be a fun rip if the cards are fresh enough. I need to pick up a Thomas in PSA 10 for my collection. I figure I'll add the 1st appearance cards to my rookie/pre-rookie set, ie. UD, Donruss, Stadium Club.

I opened a box of Football searching for a Favre rookie a few months ago and got nothing! I had the box in my collection since it's release. I had no problems with cards sticking together, but I also didn't store the box in a strange location.

The original Stadium Club were some of my favorite cards of all time. No fancy inserts, and people bought the cards for the Photography. Go fo it!

I remember a thread discussing this problem and someone suggested putting them in the freezer.
But I would try and look up that thread. They were discussing ripping a box with the Favre rookie, I think that's the '91 FB.

I actually tried nuking them for 1 or 2 seconds and it work pretty good. I can't remember the exact type of cards that I did this too, but I don't think they had any kind of foil anywhere on the card. Definitely try it with some cards that you don't care about first.

  • I recently bought some packs of 94 Select, and they were all stuck together. I tried the best I could to carefully pull apart, but some were stuck enough to get paper loss. It sucks. Guess companies back then didn't have the foresight to change up their packaging/processing at all.

I got a box of football from BBCX a few weeks back, most cards were stuck together. I was lucky and able to pull a PSA 9 Favre out of the box.

Or maybe they expected to sell the product in 1994, not 2008.

    I haven't checked anything recently.

    But, that's a possibility.

I gave away a box of 1992 UD Fanfest and opened it to display a card and much to my chagrin, some of the cards had stuck together and caused paper loss!

I've probably got loads of that kind of stuff - and just think...

    I coulda had a V8! image

I've found that pretty much all those glossy cards will do that to some degree (even new packs sometimes); you just have to be patient in seperating the cards and you should be fine. Perhaps this would explain why starting in 2005? Topps regular sets only have the glossy coating on the front and the "old style" gloss on the back?

  • I just opened a box of'93 Upper Deck and they were all stuck together. Just a little patience and coaxing and they were fine... it is kind of a pain though.
