Krause DVD

Has anyone here tried the Krause DVD with World Coins; 1801-1900, 1901- 2000, 2001- present? Are the pics better quality than the printed book? Are they in color? I see it listed for around $80 and was wondering if it was practical to use? Anyone try this yet? Thanks, Frank Krause DVD

  • Pictures are B&W, seem to be of comparable quality with the printed, look decent at up 300% magnification.

No linking has been added, search for country - then type page number into the adobe reader page # area. 1801-1900 index is a separate pdf file.

If your system has trouble with large pdf files...

    SC1801-1900.pdf 1.83 GB
SC1801-1900Intro.pdf 18.2 MB (this is the index)
    SC35.pdf 972 MB
    SC2001-date.pdf 461 MB

I have the first DVD release that contains the 35th edition of 1901-2000.

each volume is it's own PDF file!?! Man, that right there is a prime reason not to own one.

"hmm........how much is the Krause value for this 1899 Florin again? I may as well open the volume PDF, make some dinner, take a shower and tuck the kids into bed. By then, it may be loaded."

So I guess to get to the point at hand is that this DVD version of Krause is not so hot? Will it choke a quad core running 6GB of RAM?
I was really looking into getting this DVD and stop screwing or finding space for the big books. Doesn't sound very promising.image
  • On a dual-core Athalon 3800+ with 3 gig ram, even the largest opens in a couple of seconds. I have copied the pdfs to the hard drive. Finding the entry for the coin takes longer... As others have said, the treatment is lacking is usability.
