COIN SOLD
The coin is a PR-62, 1865, Liberty Seated dollar. In addition to being a highly collected Civil War year, the coin is graded by PCGS and resides in an old green label PCGS holder. The coin has outstanding eye appeal, nice mirrored fields, and beautiful natural toning......not the usual dipped out proof Seated dollar.
There's some minor hairlining in the fields, which is typical for proofs in this grade. Some minor contact marks can be seen in the field above the eagles's head, and a slightly larger hit can be seen in the field to the left of the eagle, by the "E" in UNITED. A very thin hairline scratch, that can be seen running across Ms Liberty's body, is on the holder, not the coin.
My asking price for this beauty is $3,250.00. The "Terms of Sale" are as per my website instructions. A link is supplied below.

April 9, 1865 - Gen. Robert E. Lee surrenders his Confederate Army to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant at the village of Appomattox Court House in Virginia. Grant allows Rebel officers to keep their sidearms and permits soldiers to keep horses and mules.
"After four years of arduous service marked by unsurpassed courage and fortitude the Army of Northern Virginia has been compelled to yield to overwhelming numbers and resources," Lee tells his troops.
