At one point he may have been better at his profession than any other person on the planet was at theirs.

<< <i>Okay, pardon my ignorance, but to whom or what is this in reference to? Thanks. >>
Thats what I was thinking.
Sweet Morsels Toffee and Chocolates
<< <i>"The Nature Boy" Rick Flair! >>
I thought they might have been talking about a real athlete!
About 1952, some U. of Kentucky basketball team players, adjusted the outcome of some contests.
Slick Rick, should not be singled out !
Most truly a great sports athlete and entertainer.
PS; Not really the original "Nature Boy",
that would be Buddy Rodgers, a champ in late 50's, early 60's
Whewwwww !!!
1- He is an athlete, just because the outcome of the "contests" were pre-determined does not take away from the athleticism involved. If cheerleaders are now called athletes, then so are pro wrestlers!
2- It's Ric, not Rick :-)
it's not a sport when the outcome is fixed.
Entertainers don't retire...he will soon have a reality show on E, or Bravo or TLC or The Amish network.'
yawn.

<< <i>Leo, you wouldn't be talking smack if Flair had you in one of his figure 4's! >>
He might if he knew that after 2 1/2 seconds he'd be able to move his arms just a little bit and fling Flair off of him.
If I was in a match with Ric flair, i'd immediately go for a folding chair and hit him upside the head....isnt that considered legal in "professional" wrestling?
Hey, i enjoyed the OLD WWF with backlund and snuka and Sgt. Slaughter for the entertainment it was... it's even more outrageous and over the top today, it is in no way a sport; its an exhibition.
This is real wrestling:
um, this isnt about Barry bonds! lol
Those and other pro wrestlers from the 60-'s-early 80's are the guys I remember fondly.
During the Iranian Hostage Crisis during the last year of Jimmy Carter's presidency Sargent Slaughter vs. the Iron Shiek made for great soap opera theater, with its theme of "America and Apple Pie" vs. middle easterners who want to take over the world.
