My value question of the night - Cal Ripken, Jr. printing plate from USA Today

This is my storage shed find of the day today. It's an aluminum?? printing plate from the USA Today newspaper when Cal set the record.

Does anyone know what these fetch nowadays?

Thanks,

Mike

  • WOW Mike, thats cool!

I recently picked up a printing plate myself, its a card, but this big one is very cool, thanks for sharing. No idea what it would bring, but its gotta be worth something.

How did you get this by the way?

Its a cool item for the Ripken collector.

USA today is printed in dozens of spots across the country so the plate is not unique (unless no one saved the other ones). And then you have a plate for each color I believe.

It would be far rarer and most likely unique if it was from a normal paper like the Baltimore Sun, New York Post, San Francisco Chronicle, etc.

PS. Mark Fuhrman photo on front is the main reason it will be valuable in the future image

Here's another one, but this one is kinda beat up, has Ripken and Clinton on the front. Kinda cool.

Gio, I don't remember where I got them from, I used to buy a LOT of stuff from all over.

WOW, that Favre went for $159.00 plus.

To make a link just go to reply and hit the http button right up above where you type the reply in, it's the 5th button over on mine. A box will pop up and you enter the web address, and then another box pops up and you enter what you want the link to say.

Brings back memories of when I went to my grandma's house to watch this game on ESPN with my grandpa (my parents didn't have cable or satellite back then); though grandpa insisted they were "making something out of nothing". image

Here are my two newspaper printing plates. One is from The Baltimore Sun, and the other is from The Washington Post. Even though these are the only two I own, I really do love the uniqueness of the plates. They display well.

My friend has a negative of the photo of Bird and Julius Erving chocking each other that was from a paper in philly. Any idea what that would be worth?
