I was just watching a replay of the Phillies-Astros playoff spectacular the other night. Wow, that had to be the most exciting playoff
series ever. You guys were down 5-2 against Nolan Ryan in the dome and still came back to win. Remember the rally in the 8th where
Mike Schmidt struck out when you guys needed him the most ! However, the little guys came through big for you that game.
Anyway, I was thinking, is this current Phillies team close to that team ? You had one stud pitcher in Carlton (Hamels ?), and a bunch
of other .500 pitchers. You had Schmidt (Utley or Howard ?), and a bunch of other clutch but not spectacular players. It wasn't until
you got Pete Rose that you guys got over the hump.
So are the Phillies one signing away from going all the way this year ? Is it unfair to compare this years team to that team ?
I know Hamels is no lefty, but are you sort of close ?

Amazing really that those late 70's to early 80's Phillies only won one World Series - really should have been at least two or three during that time.
Yes, that playoff series is recognized by many as one of the most exciting of all time.
