1964 Jefferson Nickel Grade This Coin

Hello PCGS world/folks,

I'm pretty much a novice coin collector and I'm looking for for an opinion on this coin 1964 P jefferson nickel. It almost looks like a proof coin but does not seem to be struck well enough for a proof. I would also like advice on getting this coin graded. Thanks in advance, <SEJ>

Tough to tell from one pic of the reverse but I'd guess MS something.
May be some steps there too.

  • It is a proof and full of haze, dip it, but it still isn't worth much more than face.
  • Dip it?? What does that mean?? thanks, Scott

Um... that means pretend you are a specialist kind of coin guy with a lab coat and ...

    awww nevermind.
  • dip it means dipping the coin in diluted jewel-luster or e-zest for a few seconds, then cover with baking soda, then wash with distilled water. Gently pat dry then a hair dryer to remove excess moisture. It will remove haze, toning, etc. Be careful on expensive coins. That would be a nice coin to test it on.

Thats a proof coin and not even worth the grading fees.

It'll be good for your personal collection but these really only show value in the cam and dcam levels of which this one appears to be neither..
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
