Panama collectors?

The 1931 and 1934 Balboa coins graded and slabbed MS65 AND HIGHER...what is the surviving population in this state of perservation and is there a market for high end examples? The design is attractive... well struck examples exist, but are they worth over Krause in 65? any thoughts?

There seems to be a fairly good supply of 1934s in 65. I paid $100 for mine, but I've seen them go higher. The 1931 date seems less available in gem.

Panamanian coins are reasonably popular in the US so I would guess a market exists, though it may not be too strong. It's a very short series of just 3 years so type collectors may be more prevalent and with the 47 being so much cheaper in GEM then either the 31 or 34 the demand for them may suffer.

    I have a 1931 in MS63 and a 1934 in MS66. I have 2 31s in at NGC right now. Still looking for the MS65!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I checked NGC census and 12 1934 One Balboa coins have been graded MS65 and the number is less for PCGS... I think it was 4.

I would have anticipated more submissions due to the overall popularity of the design...
