Pretty coin. I don't know the series but I'll guess AU 53.

Is there a date for this coin?

This coin should have been graded higher in my opinion. The coin was struck in the middle 18 hundreds and has some weakness in the strike. My opinion was at least MS62 on a bad day.

Welcome Steve Huber. For those who don't know Steve, he is a long time collector of world crowns and has one of the finest sets of world crowns in the US. He has a day job, but has a table at the NY International and CICF. 3Mark

I think the rub on the elephants hind quarter got you the 58, not the weakness on the right stupa.image

Not sure how they grade foreign coins but if that were a US coin they would grade it a MS62 even with the rub IMO.

I agree. I also agree that if this was a U.S. coin, you'd probably get a 62-63, in my opinion.

Back a few months ago I sent in a Shooting Thaler with the slight cabinet friction on high points and it received a 58.

Actually I thing the rub on base of the temple on the left hand side of the coin (right hand side when looking at the image) to me would have
given it the grade it did. To me the elephant looks really good! I agree with everyone else had it been a U.S. coin it would have faired better.
I still think it's awesome but I am bias on Thai coins lol!
