Someone was looking for a raw Saint?

Just the other day here I saw a thread where somebody asked a question about getting some raw Saints.

What does someone look for in this instance, specifically on ebay? the coin, the terms, the seller's rep? What about this one currently out there?

Buying raw gold coins on eBay is like playing Russian roulette. Not a good idea.

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

To resist the power of the temptation to buy a widget like that raw instead of from a trusted dealer or at a show for about the same price (maybe even less).

The coin has absolutely no Mint frost left on much of Liberty's body, yet the fields are almost entirely devoid of marks.

    Something's wrong with it.

I disagree. If you lose, you still get to play again and if you win, you win. I believe I saw an 1839 half posted this morning that looked like a sweet ebay purchase. --Jerry

My point was that you may win a few times but eventually you will lose. Good luck with that raw 1839 half.

You lose, because there exists WAY TOO much upside potential to holder it as opposed to selling it raw. What is the cost to find out if you $20.00 saint is an MS63 or higher? Experienced sellers know this, and you will lose far more than you will win.

Whatever its grade, I sure like how it looks though.

Run, run, run from that seller on raw anything. His slabbed coins are usually lower end and his raw stuff is to be avoided. (from experience)
