3 cent nickel strike vs. wear question...

I recently purchased an ANACS MS61 1866 3 cent nickel for my Dansco 7070 type set. I purchased it on ebay for a reasoanble amount. I have received the coin and it has now been cracked out and sits im my set.

The obverse appears to be BU with no overpowering hits or marks, but the reverse has me thinking. The vertical lines in the first two "I's" of the ruman numeral "III" are not complete. Im not real familiar with this issue, but is it common that the numerals are not fully struck or should I be concerned that this is wear? The third "I" has complete vertical lines in the numeral.

Im at work so a photo is not available. I will try to add one later.

ANy help would be appreciated.

I would think it's a strike issue. Nickel is a hard metal and the three Is are in the center of the coin...my vote is a slightly soft strike.

Maybe thats why its only graded a MS61. Becasue the coin looks better overall than a MS61. That is besides the reverse strike.

Not unusual, especially for the earlier dates when they were still trying to get the striking pressure right on these things.
