Grades are in !!!

I submitted two batches ATS for standard world grading, they recieved them last Thursday and posted grades and shipped today (6 working days). And am I ever pleasantly surprised:
001 1834 G.BRITAIN 1S MS 61 (I thought AU58)
002 1825 G.BRITAIN BARE BUST 1S MS 62 (I thought AU58+)
003 1816 G.BRITAIN 1S MS 64 (I thought AU58+++)
004 (1639-40) G.BRITAIN S-2799 CHARLES I 1S XF 45 (I thought VF30+)
005 1902 G.BRITAIN 1S PF 64 MATTE (I was thinking PF63-64)
I'm disappointed in the 1795 PF halfpenny as they gave it a 61, and it's nicer than most of the shillings, I thought it had a real shot at 64-65. It's only the fourth one they have graded so maybe they aren't used to them.

But it's time for a happy dance.image

    exactly what i was thinking! You gotta' remember Jeff, NGC and PCGS grade these oldies with a blind eye to cabinet friction and such, as long as it is very minor. that is the reason why i'm sure you were surprised. I have 4 George III Shillings that are MS63-65 (two by PCGS, two by NGC). all four have very slight cabinet friction on the very highest points, but it is clear they never saw circulation. image

    congrats on the submission!

    Thanks guys, I have to agree that I need to get used to modern standards, when I see friction, even though the fields may be perfect, I think AU. The 1816 is the only one I bought as UNC, the 1825 and '34 were bought as EF and GEF back in the 80's when I lived in the UK, and the Charles I was bought as a VF. But looking at the reverse I can certainly see it's better than the VF's I've been seeing on the web.

    Congrats... nice results... I thought you may have posted pictures of these earlier so perhaps we should look for the thread and let folks look at the coins. My recollection is that I liked the 1834
