1990 UK 5 pence

My son got one in his change the other day and gave it to me.
It's about the size of a dime, and I can see why it'd easily pass for a dime.
I used to get UK new pennies once in a while in change, but this is the first 5 pence I've seen in change.

Unfortunately the value is still only about 10c as the pence in England is worth about two of our cents (the buying power over there is actually probably less than 5 cents here!).Still, fun to find differing bits in change and to look for new stuff there.

The "new" 5p (size changed in 1990) is a very unpopular coin I am told - maybe not with collectors but apparently with the general populace.

I found one of these Thursday on the floor at a food stand in the Basel Airport. Put it in one of the charity bins airports have for travellers to dump their unwanted change.
