I always am amused and annoyed when any politician (many of whom are very wealthy) of any political party votes to increase taxes on the population in general. I suspect that these very persons use every tax loophole they can to minimize, avoid, evade paying taxes themselves.

Long before the nanny state (government will provide for your needs from cradle to grave) became the norm, the traditional roll and purpose of the "LIMITED" federal governement was:

1. national defense against dangers from outside the USA;

2. the construction of infrastructure serving the entire nation (canals, highways, ports, etc.); and

3. the passing and enforcement of criminal laws.

Not so any more. I have heard reports in the media that currently 63% of all federal spending is for "social programs" and that in the next few years this percentage will increase to above 70%. To pay for the nanny state's every growing expenses, look out for tax increases at all levels of government.

I seem to recall that in England there is (or was) a top income tax rate of 95%. With that income tax rate in effect, why would anyone put in the time and effort to earn so much money that you start handing over 95% of each dollar (Euro) you earn to the government? Kind of kills one's incentive to be productive and self sufficient, wot.

Of course the cynical side of me wonders whether political leaders would prefer to discourage a self sufficient populace in order to increase the number of persons who depend on government to provide for their needs (thereby increasing the power of the politicians).

How much money did Joe Kennedy put in off shore accounts to avoid the "Death Tax"? I notice that Teddy and the rest of the family enjoy drawning from those accounts

I would say the real truth is the exact opposite.

The Liberals are the super rich, the Republican party
is the party of the middle class.

Where it gets confusing is that the super rich
liberals market themselves to the poor as the
do gooders, when the real truth is the exact opposite.

Me, I'm putting mine into the Philippines; the libs (in both parties) are distroying this country from within, so I have to be ready to head out at anytime.


And I don't own MPL's, Lincolns or Rosies- I'm into U.S. Dollars (all types except the presi's)

I vote for whom ever best protects the values of America. Gets harder all the time but sometimes you have to vote for the lesser of 2 evils. Oh, and the one that protects my right to have a gun so I can shoot any SOB trying to steal my coins.
