It isn't official yet, but it should be in about 10 minutes...
I have to say, even though I'm a Tigers fan, that I think it would be absolutely hilarious if the Royals finished above them in the standings. If KC manages to gain speed, and it looks like the Royals and Tigs are going to be in a September dogfight for 3rd in the division, I think I"m going to have to make a temporary shift in my MLB allegiance.

Of course I'll always like the AL Royals because it's the team the Phillies beat in the 1980 WS - Royals had a heckava ballclub back then with Brett, etc.
<< <i>The Royals are the type of underdog team that a lot of baseball fans wouldn't mind seeing them win. If I'm remembering right, maybe about 3 or 4 seasons ago, the Royals got off to a super hot start and led and contended for quite awhile before I think fading a bit in September and missing the playoffs.

I remember that. They won the first 12 games of the season...then remembered they were the Royals and went back to their usual play.
<< <i>Detroit will be fine and KC will be.......... UMM KC I quess? >>
Actually, I think the Royals will be the best team in Missouri this year. That's not saying much but it is a start.

Actually, if the Royals had only won 5 of those first 12 games (usual for them), they would have finished the season 9 games under .500 which is still well above their usual play.
Let's please not discount the magnitude of the Royals being less than 10 games under .500 over 150 games played. If you take that from me, I have nothing left.
