edit: Just found out it was a coin/medal taken by a US serviceman from Japan during WWII, if that helps identification.

Doesn't make a whole lot of difference, but the JNDA catalog gives the more precise mintage figure of 78,916,555 with 4 minor differences in calligraphy.

More importantly, the catalog describes 4 varieties with slightly different calligraphy. Depending on grade those range from a minimum of ¥4-5,000 (~$39-49), to a maximum of ¥100-220,000 (~$977-2.150!)

I'll be spending roughly the last two weeks of April in Japan, but unless something drastically changes in the currency values, I won't be bringing home a whole lot of additions to my collection. image

Have a good time in Japan. Did you ever fill the hole in your 2-sen collection? I haven't...image Maybe you can at least get that one.
