If you had $10,000 to spend on cards, what would you buy?

This is just a hypothetical. If you had $10,000 to spend on ballcards, what would you buy? For me I would buy (give or take a grade):

T227 Ty Cobb in PSA 2-3
1954 Bowman Ted Williams PSA 5
1954 Topps Hank Aaron PSA 6
T206 Ty Cobb Bat off Shoulder PSA 3-4
1955 Topps Sandy Koufax PSA 7
1949 Bowman Roy Campanella PSA 7-8
1933 Goudey Babe Ruth PSA 3-4

The Braves fan in me would buy a nice Aaron, but it's awfully hard to resist any Babe card.
Atlanta Braves, Charlotte Hornets, Shawn Kemp, Dale Murphy, and Bobby Engram.

Easy; I'd get the 1970-73 Topps sets in NRMT or better condition with key cards in PSA 7. Then I'll go from there. image

None of the above, way too common, even the T227 is common because there are only 4 baseball players and you see the Cobb all the time.

    I like the rare cards.....

If it had to be only one card, Id go with a nice "N" card like a low grade Four Base Hits, Kalamazoo Bats, or a Just So Tobacco if one could be found for sale.

    1st choice would be a mid grade "E" set like E92, E95, E96, E101, E102

    PS you can easily get 4 or 5 PSA-3 T206 Cobbs for $10K.......... or 4 PSA-3 R319 Ruths for $10K

I'm changing my answer to this, but to be honest 50 $200 hookers seems less risky for some reason. image

If I had 10k to spend on cards I'd save it and spend it on cost of living.

As many different psa 8 1952 topps baseball (high population) commons that $10,000 would buy!!!! I'm guessing this might get me 75 nice cards which would make a fine psa 8 starter set.....

The 1952 Mantle is probably the safe choice.

I might speculate on ALL of the low-pop 1952 (PSA 7)
commons of ONE or TWO card numbers. In other words,
I would try to corner the currently available supply. I
would wait awhile, and then sell them one at a time.

    I might even try 1955/56.

That kind of speculation is labor-intensive, so the Mantle
    is easier/better.

I would simply continue what I am doing now (building many raw sets with key cards graded). The only thing different this amount would do is to speed things up tremendously. Why would I switch off from that?
