OT: Help needed on website shopping cart/checkout system

I'm going to start selling items from one of my websites, but have no idea how to set up a shopping card and checkout system. I've heard that there's tons of free code that will do the trick, but when I do a google search for such code, I get cross-eyed with all the results.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

    Zen Cart is very easy to set up and is open source. Use the default installation and you can be up and running in less than an hour.

    OSCommerce is also open source, I found it a little harder to work with but will do the trick as well.
