Playing with Dino-Lite

Well, I got one and it's cool. Still playing with it but there are some lighting issues, mostly glare situations. Flourescent certainly seems best...oh well, here ya' go.

  • Nice pictures.

No many people have posted pictures of full coins but it's nice to see that it can take them as well as close-ups.

    WOW, great full coin shots.

I'm having trouble with the full coin shots right now, any suggestions?
Also, what model did you get? (I bought the 411-T)

Well, I just adjusted the stand up or down with the program running and waited until I had a full frame and captured it. Plenty fun and not too complicated.

Thanks, now I'll have to go see what I'm doing wrong.

Which stand (model #) are you using?

It's the 311S with the optional stand. It has the little focusing thingy on the side...pretty easy to use but not pleased with the lighting just yet.

Has anyone purchased the diffuser & tried it yet?
Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

I don't have a difuser... and found the florescent lights work well... HERE is a link to my set of Jeffersons. 90% of these pictures were taken with the Dinolite and a florescent bulb. I'll have the rest done within the week.

So far, appears the dino lite's sharpness gets weaker as the area of the coin being shot gets larger. just an observation.

The price of gold is set by faith, or lack of, in the currency it is priced in.

I think what your referring to is operator error. Getting the right color of a coin using a camera is always a problem, and focusing is harder when the coin is at an angle to the camera. Not making excuses, but I've sat here for the last two days trying to get these coins photographed... it ain't as easy as I thought it would be.
