Does this look wrong to anyone else but me???(pics added to thread!)

1900 Morgan on Ebay.....64???? huh?

Or is this a good example of "gradeflation" image

The image is likely a scan and these kill nearly all luster. The coin itself might be well struck and free of most marks such that it would be consistent with a higher graded coin, but the likely presence of muted luster would limit it to MS64.

Thanks Tom....that may explain it....it just seems like it should be more like a VF based on pics!

Looks like bad igames of a nice coin- look at how clean the cheek is. I would say it's a nice MS-64

    Dark toning...

what you're describing would actually be grade deflation.
  • For some reason, it just looks like a very much circulated coin to me! VF-EF at best! Maybe my eyes are just playing tricks on me....or my monitor is about to die or something.

I agree, looks like a substitued coin to me. Low, low feedback and I'm just suspect.

  • It's simply toned... I'll wager it's a full 64.
  • That's a substantial reverse rotation, isn't it??

Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.

No, it doesn't look like it to me. Both images are rotated approximately 70 degrees.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Impossible to tell from the pics.

I can't remember all of the counterfeit markers for the slab so it could be a real coin in a fake slab, a real coin in a real slab or a fake coin in a fake slab. image

    For crying out loud!

A pocket coin could have "clean cheeks"

After looking at the coin , i'd say it's a VF (ok, maybe an XF but it's not in my wheel house ).

Anyone else have a different grade opinion?
