  • Looks PL to me- the grading services are much stricter than I am, though. Either way it's a nice looking Morgan. There are some Morgan guys on here that can give a much more informed opinion than I can.image

    Very nice image
Bottom right one in the top picture.
The 81 in the last pic looks like it might get a pretty high grade.
  • Going to be real tough to get 1879-S through 1881-S Morgans in PL holders as almost all of them come Semi-PL so they have to be extra special to get the designation. Still looks like a great group of coins!

Nice looking coins Sommer but I don;t see Proof Like. Proof like should exhibit some cameo and I do not see any cameo in these coins.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

Very Nice. The 1881-S Morgans are known for their strong strike and cartwheeling luster.
    Are any of them toned?

Seems that I read some time ago that you place the coin on edge on a ruler & how far you could the numbers down the ruler in the coin's reflection determined the PL or DPL of the piece. Is this correct?

WOW! That is a strong strike even for an '81-S!

  • 81-S almost always come very flashy, but the fields need to have genuine reflectivity in order to be PL.
