Question on 1994 Stadium Club fb Super Bowl parallel cards - please help!!

Ok,

I have two different Dan Marino 1994 Stadium Club cards, and both have Super Bowl XXIX logos on the bottom left side of the card. One logo is gold and the other is a clear stamp. Can anyone tell me which one is the "Super Bowl XXIX" parallel vs. the "Super Teams Super Bowl" parallel. Also, can you tell me who each version was issued? If memory serves me correctly, the "Super Teams Super Bowl" is the gold stamp version and was obtained by redeeming the 49ers team card since they were the SB champs in 94. If I'm correct, then how and why was the "Super Bowl XXIX" (which I think is the clear stamp) issued?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Rgs,

GReg M.

The Super Teams Superbowl has the gold stamp, and if they did the same thing that they did in 91, the clear stamps were on cards given away at the Superbowl.

    CDNuts,

You are Johnny on the spot. Thank you very much!! Are the clear stamp parallels tougher than the gold stamp version? Any idea?

First one is the Super Bowl Parallel, followed by 1st Day Issue and Basic.

    Meteor Guy,

Thanks - I have all the parallels but could never figure out which Super Bowl parallel was which. You have the Super Teams Super Bowl card while the clear logo is the Super Bowl XXIX parallel.

It's such a pain trying to determine all the darn parallels out there!

CD answered better but no problem. (Hey, my answer has a scan that gets a point).

Those parallels can be a mess. I love buying a lot of Young cards and finding ones I never knew about.

I'm pretty sure that the clear stamped ones are a lot tougher, but not positive.

    The Big Beckett sez'...

1994 Stadium Club Super Teams Super Bowl (SB gold foil logo) = stars 2.5X & rookies 1.5X base cards.

1994 Stadium Club Super Bowl XXIX (no gold foil with SB logo) = stars 8X & rookies 5X base cards.

Lee was right... and that, my friends, is why we keep him around despite all his ball dippin' tomfoolery.

Check out the new ebay store: Link

Sure I may be turning off potential buyers and taking money out of my pocket, but that's the price you pay for dipping your balls in stuff.

You guys already nailed the ID. The clear embossed version is the "Super Bowl XXIX" parallel, which were obtained at the Super Bowl Card Show. If you brought 5 Topps wrappers to their booth, you got a 5 card cello pack of the embossed cards. The gold stamp "Super Teams Super Bowl" was obtained in complete set form by mailing in the 49ers Super Team card. The clear embossed version is much, much tougher. I think more were made than in 1991, but you still hardly ever see them. Probably because many people at the Super Bowl Card Show were casual collectors or not really collectors at all. The gold stamp is pretty easy to find, as many sets have been broken. BTW, both parallels were only made of the first 2 series (cards 1-540). There were also team sets of the division winners (Chargers, Cowboys, Dolphins, 49ers, Vikings, and Steelers) with a different "Division Winner" logo The other parallels: The 1st day issue had all 3 series, and the Members Only had all 3 base series and the Bowman's Best, Dynasty and Destiny, Ring Leaders, and Super Teams inserts parallelled as well.

Thanks for sharing all of this information guys. I believe that this is my favorite part of the hobby. While many people despise the parallel's and such, as a player collector it's great fun.
