AU50, and I'd put a sticker on that one for the luster factor.

I think you'd be okay with that mark. It's not too distracting....I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. That being said, it's not 100% for sure that it would grade...I'd say maybe 80/20 for.

<< <i>Would it come back in a BB for the mark at star 12?
Thanks again, Ray >>
I would think not. The scratch below the 12th star appears more noticeable. I don't think either marks would keep it out of a holder. Nice looking coin.
Nice luster although there appears to be some underlying hairlines on the obverse. That scratch below star 12 is pretty deep for such a high-grade coin...bummer. I like the light die cracks on the reverse, however.

Again, I really like your 20 c. What I like so much about it is that it is circulated and pulled at just the right time. Excellent rims and denticles. Nice detail in some of the stars. A bit of luster. Perfect. The hit at the 12th star is hidden in a good place. Not distracting at all to me. I can't believe that it wouldn't slab. If it didn't, no big deal. I'm sure many would appreciate it anyways.

Thanks astrorat, I was worried that everyone would trash this coin worse than I did.
When I recieved the coin some 20 years ago I was in limbo about it, maybe cleaned? maybe damaged? I only paid chump change at current prices but it worried me at the time. I just got the coin out of the safe deposit box last week and had to re-evaluate my original thoughts.
My opinions are usually the 2 cent variety (here's my 2 cents worth). So here's my 20 cent opinion, I'd say it's an AU50 - nice piece, way better than my VG10. Pete

Nope, it took a hit at some time in its life.
It does have some nice luster but it was circulated.
Thanks again,

Is that a die crack at the "Y" on the reverse?
