Help me spend $100.00 @ BBCE

I have some money left over from the Jackie purchase, so I want to have fun with it.

My last rip was a lot of fun! It was a rak case of 1986 Topps.

This time though, I want something a little older than 86, even if it means less packs.

Baseball only...

Thoughts?

    1975 Topps.

edited to add: how about taking your GF out to dinner with it? Since she was so happy for you earlier.

    Steve
    Good for you.

    Pack? Case? Specifics man! image

And I get in trouble every time I call her my girlfriend, she's my fiancee image

  • How about you buy a box of cards and then hold a contest for individual packs.

You know that's not a bad idea. Keep her on your good side. Once you are married there will be many times when you will need the brownie points you will earn by taking her to a very nice dinner. You want her to keep letting you buy cards when you are married, right? image

I'd love to see the first ever live Menu Rip. You could take a picture of the cover of the menu, then open it up and show us what's available, and for the grand finale you could show us the plates when they finally arrive.

Buy 2 1977 Topps Cello packs from BBCE for $100 ($50/ea). Decent rookies, and certainly a few low pop commons.

  • HAHA, this reminds me of that scene in National Lampoons Vegas Vacation whren they're at that cheap buffet and the coisin said, "I'll have some of the blue" HAHAHA

So I talked to my fiancee last night and she says I should spend it on cards (since it was part of the card budget).

So I'm going to do some research on the 1977 Topps Cello packs. Sounds like fun!

  • cwazzycwazzy Posts: 3,257
She may *say* that's what you should do but allow me to translate that for you. "You better take me out to eat you SOB if you ever want to buy cards again." So, my friend, choose wisely.

She's actually REALLY cool about mt card budget... I think she legitimately wants me to use it for cards.

I can use my other money for dinner :-)

And I might let her rip one of the 77 Cellos (if I go that route) image

Yes please keep those new threads coming Only the 10's. I mean you have only posted like 2000 messages in 4 months. Do you do anything else??
  • So 77 Topps looks good to me!

Any set where I might pull a Fisk and/or a Yaz if fine with this Sox fan!

Question: Two cellos or Four wax packs? Both add up to $100.00 on the dot.

    Let me know!
  • Can you tell us about your nightly dreams everyday? I think those would make for great threads.

Hey man, this is a legitimate, on topic thread and I was just looking for opinions on a vintage pack purchase.

Didnt everyone say that they want more card-related threads instead of all the drama?

So, the question still stands: 2 Cello or 4 wax for the 77T rip?

    Thanks all image
  • Go with wax. The cello packs are wrapped really tight and could cause some corner dings.
  • baseballfanbaseballfan Posts: 5,459 ✭✭✭
    how about this?

    77 pack $25
    78 cello $25
    79 cello $17
    (2) 80 cellos $30
    81 cello $3.50

and i would add a 82 cello for an extra 7.00

    good luck
    Fred

Never ripped 83, no. 86 was a lotta fun, but there really arent too many valuable cards.

I'm definitely digging the idea of ripping some 77, but I've heard Cello from one person and wax from another so I'd like some more opinions.

But are the corners more at risk of being bent as someone previously stated?

I want at least a chance and submitting a couple of these if they're stars.

I have a hard time buying older wax. Always worried that it's been opened and resealed. I guess you would have to find a really reputable seller.

The most reputable out there for unopened material.

  • I like the idea of the '77s. Not that I am any kind of expert but I have always liked that design & there are several quality star cards & rookies in that set. But you better post some scans!!!

I thought Gary was going to buy that pack at the National last year and rip it at Steve's table...

Maybe if he had run a few more group rips he would've had the funds to do so!
