Let me say this in regards to the "trading journey" thread............

Without getting into whether or not the OP is who he claims to be, I would recommend that if people do these threads in the future, think about trading your way into a big card and then auctioning it off and donating the proceeds to charity. If you want to trade your way into a '58 PSA 8 Norm Siebern, go for it but if you want to obtain a big card do it for a good cause.
For instance, I think it would be great fun for the board to trade our way into a PSA 1 '52 Mantle, and then auction it off to the designated charity of the person whose card leads directly to the acquisition of the Mantle.

I see where you coming from, Ron, but it doesn't sound like you're aware that that's not too far from what I'm already doing. This is a quote from my very first post on the Mantle thread, and all of it still stands... except the little girl's now 3.
"... And just so this won't be a completely self-serving venture, my plan for the Mantle, if and when I acquire it, is this: to hold on to it long enough to enjoy it for a while and show it off to family and friends (a few months, I imagine); then, auction it off and split the net proceeds with half going to charity and the other half going into my 2-year-old daughter's college savings plan..."
lets all get back to talking cards.
by the way the other 20 cards from the 50's popped, I'll make another thread.

Which is the only reason (well, maybe not only but the main one) why I've been rooting for this to happen.
Think the "greed" factor clouded some of the peanut gallery's focus.

Bryon's thread is/was original an entertaining and is being done for charity.
Threads for personal gain that are going to be bumped every few hours have no place on this forum. If someone wants to trade up for personal gain, it should be on the BST page.

I agree 1,000,000,000,000,000%
Agree with you there, I was simply saying a person can do as they please. If you don't want to participate don't.
edited to add: isn't that what the Op had done? Moved it to the B/S/T forum?

I do; I'll be in the backyard cleaning up a Winter's worth of dog poop.
They sure don't write em like that any more.
Just my .02 anyways.

<< <i>To charity? I disagree. Do what you want with the card. If you want to donate money to charity, than do it. But don't feel obliged because you worked your butt off by trading tons to get a card you've always wanted. Let me ask you, how many times have you donated the money you got from selling cards to charity and not turn around and buy more cards for yourself? Do with your money as you please.

Well then you are just trading, as in buy/sell/TRADE.
Noone says he cant do what he is doing, just not on the main page.

Steve Perry. With Heather Locklear, as I recall, as the chick in the video.

I felt like I wanted to be involved with Elemenopeos trade journey, but I kinda started watching a little late. I'm still watching though. I really admire his idea of saving for his daughters education at such an early age. I guess that's the only way to be sure she doesn't miss out???
I'd put up a 72 Topps #100 Bobby Orr in PSA 9 to start the charity trade drive.
<< <i>"Oh Sherry" was in fact a solo Steve Perry song and not a Journey song. Does it really matter though? >>
WTF, were you raise in a cave? To all these sensitive metrosexuals running around today that were weaned on Nickleback or whatever it probably doesn't matter, but to anyone who came of age in the 1980's, and smoked their first Newport at the local arcade while playing Q-Bert and listening to 'Send Her My Love' the distinction between Journey and Steve Perry's solo career is an important one.
I bet you're also that guy who thinks moving from Bon Scott to Brian Johnson didn't really matter either, since they 'both had gravelly voices'.

<< <i>Boo, Are you sure that was Heather Locklear? I heard the woman was Steve Perrys' real wife,.....Sherry Perry. >>
You're right, Bob. I just googled it, and the white-hot chick in the video was, in fact, a woman named Sherrie-something, and she was Steve's real life GF. For all these years I've been living a lie.
This reminds me of an episode I went through about six months ago, where I bet a guy $50 that 'Alone' by Heart was not on the Bad Animals LP.
<< <i>Wow Boo, apparently I hit a nerve with you regarding Steve Perry. I just never really was a fan. I got a little into Journey in my college years when I grew a renewed liking for cheesy 80s music, but that's about it. Also, I never really went crazy for AC/DC like everyone else. I know this means we can probably never talk again, but I gotta be me. >>
Lee Lee Lee Lee Lee... Remember the rule; whatever one posts on an Internet message board should never, in any way, be taken seriously. Although, to be honest, I do find your apathy towards AC/DC (a.k.a. 'The Greatest Rock and Roll Band Ever) to be a little disconcerting. Bury your nose back in the liner notes of your Thompson Twins LP's, and rejoin the rest of the cool kids once you've grown a pair.
<< <i>My tastes are all over the place. Strangely enough I'm a big Supertramp fan and love Bob Seger. Don't try to get in my head man, cause you might not like what you see. >>
+1 for 'Night Moves', if only because it has one of the greatest verses in the history of rock ('woke last night to the sound of thunder...'). Actually, +1 for Bob Seger in general.
