I think some think that if they insure an item, then they are guaranteed to receive that item. They don't realize that if that item is lost, USPS will only give them $2.27.
I had a few guys insure cards on my last auctions. I had a guy pay $4.15 for shipping and insurance on 1.99 card. Had several <$3 get insurance too. I was going to just offer that if the card didn't arrive, I would refund their money but they obviously wish to have it insured so... I let it be.
Last time I got this request someone wanted insurance on a $2.50 card. I replied and explained how PO insurance worked. They agreed to not insure, but were still worried the card wouldn't arrive...I never heard from them again so I assume they got it. I would have to commit myself to the loony bin if I spent my time worrying about a lost $2.50 card!

Maybe it was a card he just had to have and didn't want to take no chances???

But insurance doesn't replace the card, just the money. All insurance buys you is piece of mind that you'll get some money back if the PO loses or ruins the item.

All insurance is is a waste of money. If you paid with paypal and you never get the item you will get your money back anyway. Insurance is for the sellers protection not the buyers.

That's not entirely true.
If Seller has a DC and the item gets lost at your branch PO, you are SOL.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
