I do not know the mintage for the 1923 G, but I would say that it is very low cosidering the 1923 mintage from all mints combined is only 3,083,000. Very cool find. -Dan

The question then becomes: Is it a business strike (XF: $50, UNC: $200) or is it an impaired proof ($160)... not sure if proofs were struck for this mintmark...

But, that is for common date proofs. I would say that if this were a proof it could be worth more because of the rarity of that date and mint.

Interesting to think that it might be a slightly-impaired proof. How sharp are the edges? I can't tell from the pics. Darkish though the pictures/scans are, I can indeed see what you mean about the coin being slightly prooflike, which is unusual, at least in my experience with this type. Nice find, either way.
