Ok, who really owns the coin?

  • Same coin? Wow, did you report this?

Sounds from the auction text like seller 2 owns it and seller 1 stole the pix. Unless you want to bid stay out of it or contact the seller/s and let them deal with it.

    Reported. Obviously a fraud/highjacked account.

Good man. I would have tried reporting it but I'm so slow to navigate Ebay that the listing would've probably ended before I got word in about it.image

It's getting to the point that Ebay needs more people monitoring this kind of thing. You think they'd start offering rewards for fraud info? Just a thought...

Reported. And the legit owner has been alerted.

  • I emailed the seller metrocomputerrecycling, here's their response:

That is a picture used to represent what you are getting. The digital camera I have does not take very good pictures. I wanted to make sure everyone knew the quality of the coin you are getting. Thank you

The seller responded via the eBay Message system and was routed through eBay. A look at the properties and here is the partial header info:

    From: "eBay Member: metrocomputerrecycling" <member@ebay.com> Reply-To: ilovecoins@gmail.com

It also looks like the source originates from:

    bosimpinc02.eigbox.net

Which looks like a Boston based hub.

Like someone already said, probably a hijacked account.
  • What is a gmail.com address?
Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.
  • It's a free Google email account. It's easily used by scammers to try and hide themselves. But there are people who do legimately use Gmail, because it's easily accessed from any computer, or they want to avoid spam and unwanted emails.

Wow, thats looks extremely fishy to me. And with the individual specifying that he does not accept paypal..... Great eye for noticing this...and preventing someone from getting taken

But now with hidden bidder identities, its impossible to notify these folks that they MAY be hoodwinked.
