Movie Lobby Card Update - the 1950's - movies so BAD they WEREN'T released...UPDATE of the update!

they ESCAPED! image

I put this is a separate thread instead of pulling up my old one due to the "campy" nature of these movies. Yes, I did see them as a child.

But, by today's standards? The only thing scary about them was the ticket price!

As they say in the movie business: "That's Entertainment!"

I picked up 4 new LC's over the past month or so - I asked the guy to hold onto them until I had a few to buy since he nails ya on shipping.

Fire Maidens of Outer Space - now if that doesn't put chills right up your spine?

image

From Hell It Came. - from hell? Which one the monster or the movie? image

image

The Brain from Planet Arous. Steady - brace yourself - this one's a real nail biter!!!!

image

First Man into Space. Who was the prop man? Michael Jackson's mug shot is more scary than that thing!!!

image

Well guys - that's it - just wanted to entertain ya a bit today - something dumb, something different - but for me? This is fun stuff - not expensive and very entertaining - I recommend if someone wants to branch out - just pick the movies ya liked as a kid and go crazy!

Thanx for viewing

    You aint kiddn Steve.

Exactly - for me - the Main St. movie house in Queens - BTW - Mantlefan used to go to the same movie house when we were kids - in fact, we attended the same church - Queen of Peace - on Main St.

Remember some days they would have a special - something like 12 cartoons and the double feature?!!!!

Thanx for the input guys - you've made my day!

  • Mike,

Sorry to ask a different question on your thread, but I figured since it was movie theater that you would know?

I came across a movie theater on Staten Island that was closing, and went inside as they were working and cleaning the place out, and some head guy was there, so I asked him if there were any movie posters left that they were strowing out or anything, so he said yes.

He told me to take whatever I wanted and I told him, give me the word and i'll make all of them dissapear image So he said, I don't care take them all if you want. I crabbed all the doubles sided movie posters from all different movies, can't remeber them right now because this was like 4 years ago I think, and I put them in USPS Priority tubes, sealed them up, put them together and taped it so all the tubes would stay together. Anyway I got them burried in my closet.

My question was actualy about this lot of about 110 or so little strip type things that they use to put above the entrance of each movie room, on top of the door, you know the ones i'm talking about? I haven't been able to look them up because I have no clue what their called image

I got those rapped up too. I put plastic wrap around the whole lot to keep them together and the've been like that ever since. If there anything special I might take them out to take some pictures of them.

What do you think? Are these worth anything really? And what in the World are they even called?

    Thanks in advance!

    Giovanni

Editd to add: I forgot to meantion the size of the strips. From what I can remember, they are about 2 to 2 and a half feet wide and about 10 inches maybe tall???

I might be in the minority here but I gotta tell you guys- Steve & Mike, I still enjoy a lot of the GREAT classics from your day, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Collosal Man, The day the earth stood still, ect.. My Father has all these recorded on his VHS tapes LOL He is Old School and will not upgrade to DVD, anyways I still watch these on occasion as well as some greats from the early 60's IE: The Naked Prey, Journey to the Center of the Earth, these are some of my favs!

Mike next time you get some more of these if you dont mind posting and bringing the thread back from time to time I would enjoy it very much!

    Thanks again!

Not sure about them - keep in mind - in the 50s - only one movie was being put on - you're talking some kind of multiplex - more than one theater.

On the lobby cards - why not take them out and list what ya have? They're worth putting up on ebay - they bring for the most part 20 bucks but some - if the title lobby card or a great movie can bring 100s!

Oh, ok Mike, thanks! I just might like them some day, when I stop being lazy image

From what I can remember I got about 110 of those strips and about 55 or 60 double sided movie theater posters which are pretty huge, all different sized I think, can't remember to good. I know there were some pretty nice titles in there, I would have to break the great seal to check them out. I figured to leave them sealed and forget about them, lol.

    Thanks again.

I have Creature Of The Black Lagoon (3-D Version) on my hard drive right now. Took some screen caps (Sorry about the size) for your viewing pleasure. If anyone has those red and blue glasses you can see how this looks but prepare for a headache while looking at these with or without them. image

I didn't check to see if these particular movies are at this link but they probably are. Just about every B movie from the 50's can be found here for sale.

Caution: There is soft-core adult content as well on this link.
